Empowered Birthing. Justice-Centered Care.

Compassionate doula support for Black birthing people—because your voice, choices, and well-being matter.

At Lightbourn Doula Care, we believe every birthing person deserves to feel safe, informed, and supported throughout their pregnancy, labor, and postpartum journey.

Black birthing people are 3-4x more likely to experience birth complications. We are here to change that. Our work is rooted in Black feminist principles and a commitment to birth justice.

Your birth story matters. Let’s write it together.

How We Support You

  • Prenatal Care

Preparing for childbirth can be overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. Together, we’ll create a personalized birth plan that aligns with your preferences while providing education and guidance to prepare you for labor. We listen, support, and care as you prepare to welcome new life.

  • Labor Support

Labor is transformative, and we’re here to make sure you feel empowered, safe, and supported. Whether at home, a birthing center, or a hospital, we provide calm, continuous care, guiding you through every moment with reassurance and advocacy to ensure your voice is heard.

  • Postpartum Care

The postpartum period is a time of healing, bonding, and adjustment. We’re here to ease the transition, offering guidance on newborn care, emotional support, and practical help so you feel nurtured, confident, and ready to embrace this new chapter.

My Story

The journey to becoming a doula began with one of the most difficult moments in my life—watching my sister, Ashley, endure a challenging birth where her voice was ignored, her concerns dismissed, and her experience dehumanized. As her advocate and big sister, I stood by, feeling powerless to ensure she received the care and respect she deserved. That moment lit a fire within me, awakening a purpose I couldn’t ignore.

I became a doula because no one should ever feel unheard during one of the most transformative moments of their lives. My mission is deeply personal: to protect birthing people, especially Black families, from the systemic injustices that far too often rob them of safe, supported, and empowering birth experiences.

Drawing on my background in advocacy, psychology, and leadership, I’ve dedicated myself to this work—not just as a profession, but as a calling. Every family I support is a testament to the strength and resilience I saw in my sister, and every birth I attend is an opportunity to ensure that others are met with care, compassion, and respect.

This is my story. This is my why. At Lightbourn Doula Care, my goal is to make sure your voice is heard, your choices honored, and your journey celebrated—because everyone deserves to feel protected and empowered during this incredible chapter of life.
